Vietnam’s phone code is the telephone country code that is used for phone communications when a call is placed from outside of the country.

Vietnam’s Country Code is +84

Vietnam’s country code is +84. The country code is necessary only when dialing a phone number to make a telephone call from another country. International callers who wish to dial a telephone number in Vietnam should dial Vietnam’s telephone country code (+84) before the national telephone number preceded by area code.

All national phone numbers in Vietnam are ten digits long – aaa bbb bbbb, with aaa being the area code followed by the local phone number. Always delete the trunk code “0” when calling from overseas. Follow these easy steps to dial a phone number in Vietnam using the country code:

Step 1. Enter your country’s exit code on your phone. If you are calling from Europe please enter the 00 (or “+” sign if calling from a mobile device) or 011 if calling from the United States. American callers use the “011” exit code for all international call, including Vietnam.

Step 2. Dial 84, Vietnam’s country code.

Step 3. Then enter Vietnam’s area code. Don’t use the trunk code “0” when calling from outside of the country.

Step 4. Right after the area code, dial the national phone number you wish to call in Vietnam.

When calling from Europe: 00 84 aaa bbb bbbb (or +84 aaa bbb bbbb from a mobile device)
When calling from the United States: 011 84 aaa bbb bbbb

Vietnam’s area codes are two to three digit long codes that are used for long-distance calling inside the country. Please do not enter the trunk “0” when calling overseas. Here are some Vietnam’s area codes:

If you wish to dial a phone number with these area codes from outside Vietnam, you would have to dial first the exit code, then Vietnam’s country code 84. 

For example, if you want to dial a phone number in Ho Chi Minh, this would be an example of a phone number: +84 28 bbbb bbbb or 0084 28 bbbb bbbb, and 011 84 28 bbbb bbbb if calling from the United States.

Vietnam’s mobile phone numbers are operated by the four largest local mobile phone companies -Viettel, VNPT, MobiFone and Vinaphone.

The mobile phone codes in Vietnam are two digit long: 3a, 5a, 6a, 7a, 8a and 9a. When dialing a mobile phone number from outside of the country, first you need to dial the exit code (for example, “011” or “+” sign if calling from the United States), then Vietnam’s country code “84”, plus the 9 digit phone number including mobile code.

For example, enter 011 84 9a bbb bbbb or +84 9a bbb bbbb if calling from the United States.
